As Lynn has already mentioned I tried (
really i did) to keep Alex's autogrpahed CD a suprise, but I REALLY wanted to listen to it and that's a little hard to do as I need to have my music LOUD.
Elena and Alex are both charming people - I strongly recommend you head over to their site to see just what Alex can do.... or rather what he can't do (that's a shorter list i'm thinking!)
I found out something that just had me gobsmakcked - Alex is related to Tchaikovsky, Tolstoy and is the great great grandson of Constantine Stanislavsky. I mean WOW. Anyone who has studied music, or even if you haven't you hear names like Tchaikovsky and you just can't comprehend their talent or what they were like... and then you find out they have descendents running around who are just as incredibly gifted. It makes learning all the general knowledge seem so much more real and connected.
Ok so what did i think of the album - i love it (yes i know i say that about all the artists on here,, but duh, that's why we have the site!) A lot of the songs he has done I've heard before especially done by Amici and The Ten Tenors but his take on them is quite different, there is none of the cheeky humor or the slick presentation and glamour of the other performers. Rather this simply just is Alex. his voice. his talent. My favorite song is The Power of Music - written by Alex and performed by him.. the lyrics are simply and perfectly describe everything I associate with music. It is my life. It is my love.
His actual voice seems incongruous with the innocent happy face of the young man on the cover. For those of you who have heard Carlos (of Il Divo) sing as a young boy, that's the only way I can describe it. Just by hearing his voice, you know that when Alex grows up he's going to have the same force that Carlos commands when he sings. Awesome power.
